Kris Joseph out vs. Pitt

A quick note, garnered from the excellent work of our hoops colleague Seth Davis:

Just spoke w/ Jim Boeheim. Kris Joseph definitely will NOT play vs Pitt on Mon night bc of concussion but should be OK for Villanova on Sat.

Advantage, Pitt? It will be interesting to see which way Jim Boeheim goes with the starting lineup. Will it be a three-guard look, with freshman Dion Waiters getting the start, or will we see a favorite emerge from the triumvirate of C.J. Fair, Baye Moussa Keita and James Southerland? How this team deals with injury will tell us a lot about what they can do in March.

You guys really let hattie yank your chain! Read all his posts, the picture will become clearer.
Do you really think a retired lawyer writes like hattie? Also, he is a native of NY and has indicated upstate.

More probable story: Went to OCC with intent to transfer to SU. failed most his classes, dropped out. Bald, pot belly, 38 years old, lives upstairs in his mother's house. Currently between jobs bussing tables, hence lots of time to try writing posts. Was a GTown fan, until, their luck against SU failed, switched to LVille because they are the only team to consistantly have SU's #. Check his posts, he is not a LVille fan, he is an anti-SU fan!

Catman, read the entire context of comments, and the you can make sense of it, maybe. If Pitino coached Pittsburgh, Syracuse would definately win because they are due. Syracuse is alson due against Pitt. This Cuse fan can not wait for game time. #1, here we come!!

To Hattie947: Apparently doing a little research before opening your mouth is too difficult for you. I realize it's really easy to just sit at a keyboard and type away anything that pops into your mind without actually thinking about it. Every good coach schedules as best s/he can to get their team ready for conference play. It would be pretty stupid not to. Look who Duke plays, look who NC plays, look who Kansas plays, and oh yes, look who Louisville plays pre-conference. Let's see, what has Jim Boeheim done for Syracuse basketball? 32 out of 34 - 20 win seasons, 27 out of 35 NCAA appearances, 8 Big East regular season championships, 5 Big East tournament wins, 3 National Title games, 3rd in coaching career wins, leads all Big East coaches past and present in wins, 4 time Big East coach of the year, Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, and a 2010 Naismith, AP, and Sporting News Coach of the year. Now I don't know how you measure success, but I will take 34 years of consistent basketball success and all the great basketball moments Jim Boeheim and his team have provided over the years. One other, probably more important thing about Jim Boeheim, is his total involvement in the community. At last Saturday's SU vs. Cinci, he personally purchased 250 tickets in the student section so that Army personnel from Fort Drum could attend a game free of charge before shipping out. Since 2000, he and his wife have raised $4.5 million for Coaches vs. Cancer. There are many other examples. So to Hattie947, why don't you do a small amount of thinking before your mouth opens.

I can not wait for tonights match-up. Syracuse Pittsburgh is like a mini Super Bowl. I hate to wish my life away, but I wish tip-off was right now. I can't seem to find anywhere what the head to head record between Pitino and Boeheim is. I understand that Pitino has the advantage, but what is their record against each other? To kill some time before tonights game, Orange fans can watch Rakeem Christmas on ESPNU at 5:00. He is their prized recruit and will probably be Rick Jackson's replacement next year. Someone posted that we may see Mookie in this game. I doubt it and think he will be transferring at the end of the year. SU has two more guards comming in next year. We will miss Joseph but I have a real good feeling SU is going to win a close one.

Playing Pitt at the Zoo is never an easy thing to do.  Now we lose our leading scorer and one of the only guys on the team that creates his own shot.  Still looking forward to the game, but not so sure of the outcome.  Maybe Fab goes off for 20 and 10, lol!

We never beat Pitt and Lousiville anymore.

This will be our first loss.

Pitt is playing at home, they're a very good team and we never beat them, and we're without Kris Joseph, our best player.

Simple formula that equals an SU loss.

Thanks for the Post.. I really enjoyed your "take" on this evenings fun..  Yes--I'm a Grad .& hugh Louisville Fan.. I also Love College ball.. Many years ago,I was a Student -Athelete myself & then Kept atheletically involved until age of 60--Honestly!! I did this while raising a family & practicing Law in NY for nearly 30 years..  I'm Now retired living the "good" life down here in "gods waiting room" & this evening--I had a few hours to "kill" & saw the SU crazies tearing it up & ventured in.. then got carried away... I guess that trial room trick of Capitvating & steering a crowd doesn't Die... lol... You'll notice I DID use the word "FUN" a few times...  Anyway-- I do LOVE MY CARDS , Respect The Big East & JB (a little)..... Despite Ricks"15-second" aberation--I'd take him still as a Great Coach.. Just have problem with certain guys in field whom I feel succeed in a less than Straight & ethical fashion or who I feel are Grossly overrated due to controlled circumstances. Anyway-- I again would like to thank you for your Post . Hope to see Both UofL & Syracuse at BIG DANCE--OF COURSE they'll be there as well as about 8-10 other BEAST teams & hope they all do well.....  Stay warm & Well & happy New year ...See you in LOUISVILLE NEXT MONTH !!      (Please do NOT bring Jimmy Burr)..  You guys win then--I'll buy you dinner ... For you-- name's RICK

" Let the Games begin..    Grammar never bothered me .. So many more Important things in life for one to be concerned. You Understand, I;m sure."

First, I must applaud your ability to captivate an audience.  Over the last five minutes,  I casually read the thread of comments from the beginning.  People came and went but you managed to hang around and call out the opinions of everyone who disagrees with you!  However, I must say that this quote made me laugh the most (from above).  There are MANY more important things in life - certainly of which spending your time blasting person after person in a dispute over two OUTSTANDING college coaches in the game of basketball ISN'T, I presume.  These two men would have nothing but great things to say about each other.   Let's applaud both Syracuse and Louisville and be thankful that we (fans of both of these teams) have these guys coaching them.

Cuse fan for life
