Memphis sophomore Joe Jackson has decided against transferring and will remain with the Tigers, Eric Robinson, Jackson's former summer coach, told CBSSports.com on Sunday.

Jackson missed Saturday's win over Charlotte after meeting with Pastner on Friday to discuss his future, and multiple sources told CBSSports.com that the possibility of transferring was discussed. The sources said Pastner told Jackson to "take a couple of days" to think about it, which he did. On Sunday, the Memphis native decided to return to the team. He is expected to play Wednesday against Tennessee.

Jackson is averaging 11.9 points and 3.1 assists this season.

Memphis is 8-5 with five losses to opponents currently ranked in the AP Top 25.

It looks like Eric Robinson may be the problem.  Aside from messing with JJ's head, he apparently took it upon himself to be Joe's spokesman without getting the facts straight.  According to Joe, he never considered transferring, as stated in the Commercial Appeal.

Joe, your former summer coach is not helping the situation.  You need to shake loose from him and listen to your coach, play as a team member, and be the player you can be.  He has created too much drama and caused a distraction to you and to your team members.  Memphis fans want you to be a success and a team player.

I couldn't agree with you more. No one seems to understand that it won't happen overnight. He lost two experienced assistant coaches. They are thin in the frontcourt and don't have a lot of height to begin with. He's building a good thing.I guess 25 wins a year is not enough.

Hey Gary, the next slow news day, why don't you ask that AAU coach if he's heard anything about Josh and his wife discussing the possibility of moving to another school over dinner at their house? I'll bet that would be worth a few hits, huh? Ever heard of checking your sources? Multiple sources saying a transfer was discussed is not the same as multiple sources saying what this beanhead said about not expecting to see Joe in a Tiger uniform again, or whatever nonsense it was he told you. Wise up.

that's the one problem with being from the M-town:  too many people in his ear telling him what to do all the time.  joe needs to grow up, play his role as a team player for this season and next, learn the college game, and be able to take games over as a senior.

Everyone in memphis is hatin on Coach Pastner too.  to the haters, what did yall expect of young 33 yr old first-yr head coach to produce in his first 3 seasons, national championships?!?  i'm losing patience too, but we are in good hands for the future of the program.  weather the storm, get rid of the bad seeds (spoon) and we'll have something special.

Hope that coming back means he will get his head out of his a$$ and do what the coaches tell him and not listen to his handlers. He has been a distraction on the team from day one due to his attitude.

Let me make a couple of predictions about round #2: One, Joe Jackson will do better than 6 points and one assist. Two, Maymon will not get 32 points and 20 rebounds.
