Is this really the prayers thread???

Just checked it randomly as it was up and I usually don't see it.

It is certainly a blessing that so many former atheists are hanging out here!

Hallelujah!

Praise God!

Everything works out in the end!

"Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, Thou art very great; Thou art clothed with hounour
and majesty. Who covers Thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the
heavens like a curtain."
Psalm 104:1, 2

Time and again God offers us signs of His power and wonder. If we will just keep our eyes
open, the truth of God's existence will present itself over and over. God gives graciously
to His children. Relax and enjoy the show that God puts on. It is nothing less than perfection.

Do not let me turn blind eyes to the beauty of Your world, Lord. Throughout Your creation
is Your signature. I cannot doubt Your existence in a world of such amazing splendor.
Father, please help me to see Your beauty beyond my difficulties in Jesus' name, Amen.

General Request:

I have run into several people that have lost children under horrific circumstances and have come to understand that the divorce rate in these situations is astronomical which breaks my heart.  I pray for all those that have children in pain or have lost them and ask God to watch over you and bless you ways you don't expect.  Let them put their faith and burdens into God and allow him to carry them through and bring them peace.

WT ... Thanks for praise reports, and AMEN! Thanks also for everyone's prayers for me. Better night sleep last night. Back is what it is, waiting to get an appt with specialist for weeks now. I'm hanging in by the Grace of God. I really am not confident that they can do anything. I hope I'm wrong.

This is really a tough thing to do- we aren't supposed to bury our children- it just seems unnatural.  There is no glib answer- we just "laugh with those who laugh" and "weep with those who weep".  It's another way of saying be there for them.  Saying we understand what they're going through, or giving profound insight is not helpful- it just offends and minimizes the reality of their loss.  Sometimes we just have to do what is hardest- shutting our yap and just let our caring presence say what can't be said in words.  But, we don't know what the future holds, or why suffering comes to good people.  We know sometimes it builds character, and sometimes a greater good comes out of the seeds of sorrow, but we don't know what God knows.  But we know whom we have believed in, and we know that He is able to keep that which we have committed (our soul, ourselves) until That Day.  Our Lord is Sovereign, and He is on the throne.

1 Corinthians 10

Warnings From Israel’s History

11 These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come. 12 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! 13 No temptation[c] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted[d] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,[e] he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

  • My son and his family seem to be doing O.K., but he situation is still the same.  I simply pray that their will turn their hearts to our Heavenly Father, and that the evil influences of the evil one will be thwarted.  I pray the Angel of the Lord encamps about them and chases away all those who would destroy that family.
  • Tony, I pray for your back and continued healing
  • Sissy and Mom
  • Gary's growing ministry and the Lord's continued blessings on it.

  • WT's relationships and healing and restoration.

I lift up all these requests and ask that the God of all Glory will make His face to shine on all who in sincerity of heart visit this thread and make their requests known unto the Lord.  May He hear from His throne in Heaven and shower blessings, power, and reconciliation to men who struggle here below.  May those who are "kicking the tires" of christianity come to realize that we aren't a religion, but we are involving in a vital, living relationship with the Creator of the Universe, whose Spirit lives the godly life in us by faith.  May they come to know this effective and powerful presence in their lives, having been cleansed by His perfect and precious blood, and sealed in His Spirit- to the salvation of their souls.  We ask in Jesus' worthy Name, Amen.

"In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!
I have overcome the world."
John 16:33

Prayer brings peace to places of conflict. There is an inner
and outer calm that comes to men and women who pray.  We are
clearly told that trouble will come in this world, but we are
not suffering alone.  Jesus has suffered with us and understands
our pain and sorrow.  He will guide us through as He promises
never to leave us.  We may not be happy during these times,
but we are assured.

Father God, I know that trouble may come my way, but I also
know that I don't need to fear because You have already overcome
the world.  In Jesus name I pray for all, Amen.

Please let Dez Bryant's right knee be okay....Also, if he could produce 1200 yds, 10+ TDs for this season on the way to a Super Bowl win for the Cowboys, I'd greatly appreciate that too...

"Our fathers understood not Thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of
Thy mercies; but provoked Him at the sea, even at the Red sea."
Psalm 106:7

Some of us want what we want when we want it, and we really don't care whether we're being
ungrateful or not. God has showered us with blessings, and sometimes we stand defiantly
demanding more. God is willing to give us many good things, but not when we refuse to
value what we've got. Christian maturity requires that we learn to be satisfied with
what we have. It is pleasing to God when His children say, "Thank You," instead of "More."

Father, I forget how gracious and giving You have been, O Lord. Forgive my lack of
gratitude and appreciation. I have no reason to desire more. I have more than I truly
need already. Help me to use my abundance for the sake of others for their benefit and
Your glory that they would come to know You. Amen.

Be God's!

Prayers

August 22, 2012 3:18 pm

Father, I thank You for the work You are doing in Greg's family.  As You have promised in Your word, when You begin a great work in us, You are faithful to complete it.  Please open the eyes and hearts of all that reconciliation and true love may be established.  I pray for all those here who are struggling with pain, illness, or injury that You would sustain their strength through the difficult times and bring them to a healing.  I pray for those who have lost loved ones, including my cousin's mother-in-law Doris.  I pray for those who are ministering in Your name, that You would lead them and speak through them to reach hearts and minds for Christ whether here or overseas.  I pray especially, Lord, for Your persecuted church at home and abroad.  Please Lord, let the torture and killing stop; make a way of escapte for those who are in danger.  I pray for Pastor Youcef as new charges are concocted against him in Iran.

Lord, I also lift to You our athletes.  I thank You for healing Edgar Sosa so that he can return to basketball after his broken leg.  Please heal Dez Bryant of his injuries that he may have a safe and productive season.  I especially praise You Lord for the progress of Eric LeGrand, the Rutgers football player who was paralyzed almost two years ago during a game.  Thank You Lord for keeping his spirit so strong so that he is not breathing, eating, speaking, moving in his wheelchair, and progressing toward walking.  Lord, use Eric to speak to us all, especially as he glorifies You in his book about his struggles, that others may know You give hope when humans say there is no hope.

I lift to You a special prayer for the twins that were born prematurely and are confined in a hospital right now.  Give comfort and hope to Kyle and Kim and their families as they deal with a one-pound boy and a two-pound girl.  Lord, I recall with joy how You saved my grandson at one pound to make him now a healthy strong 5 year old.  Give the same hope and healing and growth and strength to the little ones and the assurance to their parents that You can keep safe and bring normal growth to these little ones.

I pray also for my mother's surgery tomorrow.  May the roots of the cancer not run deep and wide that the surgery and reconstruction will be a simple and short procedures unlike the last time.  Give her peace as she puts her faith in You, and I look to You for strength, wisdom, and patience as I cope with the caregiving.  Let me hear only You in deciding how to help her through.

As always, Father, we pray for all who come here, for our military, our veterans, our first responders, our health care providers, and country's leaders, our courts, and our country.  We pray for the safety and protection of Your people Israel.  Let all be done in Your will and for Your glory, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen
