I agree that the schedule looks brutal.  But I just think it is way too early to count wins and losses yet.  But I also understand that most of us love football so much that we have to find something to talk about.  My ideal draft is Richardson, Wright and the best RT available also.  And I wasn't specifically targeting anyone with my earlier post but I was surprised by the fatalistic attitude that most people had.  Maybe I am overly optimistic but I think Holmgren and Heckert are on the right track.  And when looking at last years games,  we were in the games and most of the time leading in a great many of them.  I think if we add some top notch talent like Richardson and Wright and solidify the line, the offense is going to be greatly improved.  The big thing is this team has to learn how to close out games and I think that is where talent comes in.  Richardson, to me, looks like the kind of guy you can count on to move the chains when the game is on the line.  Time will tell,  GO Browns!!!

There is SIXTEEN games to get 8 of them to go your way on Sunday/Thursday...

Two years ago there were exactly ZERO people(me included) that gave that Browns team the chance to beat the Saints...even after that win AND a bye week..everyone including me said they wouldn't win the next week against the Patriots...The point is you can't look at a schedule in April and "find" the wins. The wins come when one team is better prepared than the other.

With no offseaon and a new coaching staff, philosophy, and schemes on both sides of the ball and a full third the starters having 2 or less years in the league experience, the Browns found 4 weeks where they were more prepared than their counteparts.

Throw a dart my friend...Any given Sunday really does exist...This team may not win all of the "couple" of games you think they have a shot at, but they MOST CERTAINLY will win at least a couple that you give them NO shot at. And they can win any of the games in between those two categories as well.

Oh man, do I have a crazy dart!  I had them beating the Steelers and Ravens twice each, the Broncos, the Cowboys, the Giants and the Chargers, but they still started 0-3!  Pass me another Kool-Aid...  Thanks, ah refreshing................thud

...{not sure why that was a PM}...

I am GM in a mock draft and every one takes two teams...Since I don't give a crap about anyone but the Browns and a Raiders fan didn't step in, they had the fewest picks, lol...

But I did it for everyone else participating to know who I am in the mock...It will be back to the Dawg in green hat before draft dayWink

Hi guys   ~

I’m just an old-time Browns fan that drops-in every now and then.  I just heard about the 2012 schedule and and to see what you guys had to say . . . . .

There is SIXTEEN games to get 8   3  of them to go your way on Sunday/Thursday...

I agree that the schedule looks  IS  brutal.

. . .  sorry, I just had to correct a couple of those.

I’m waiting to see what happens during the upcoming draft and how it might impact our season [ I don’t have much hope ].  The BROWNS and I never seem to see eye-to-eye during the draft, but I do pass judgment based upon “on field accomplishments”, and since the “return”, there hasn't been much accomplishment, now has there..??

I look forward to reading what you experts have to say about our wimpy BROWNS this year.

Well, to be honest, I have just about had it coming on these boards at all, BECAUSE of posts like yours.

I will never give up on the Browns, and in the past, most of my bretheran wouldn't give up on them in April. I guess the fan base is "BEATEN" just as many of the National media say we are.

I was always under the impression that the Browns fan base would never be beaten, but I stand corrected coming into these boards daily and being ridiculed for my positive outlook on what the Browns can become in my estimation...

Well, guess what...I am just about "beaten" from staying on these negative boards.

This isn't the fanbase I grew up with...that's for certain.

The pessimism is overwhelming.....But this is what I see everywhere in regards to the Browns fan base.  This is what I was talkin about yesterday...  I won't even watch a game with my dad anymore.   Most of my friends that I thought were die hard Browns fans just aren't anymore. Almost  everybody has become cynical about the whole operation.  Lerner's teams have put out the blueprint in "how to ruin a brand"....This is not the fan base we grew up with!  Not even close....People are just tired of losing, and the Browns have been really good at it....

The only way to change the culture is to win....That's it. Period.   People are sick of hearing about rebuilds, and new coaches, and new schemes....It's much easier to just snicker when the Browns are metioned, than to try and defend them.....But that's what guys like us are here for Irish!  Every off season, we have hope. You and I seem to be in a very small group that appreciates the efforts of our front office since Mike Holmgren arrived....The way I see it,  somebody has to stick their neck out for these guys....I'm of the opinion that this franchise is definately headed in the right direction...I'm pleased with our last couple drafts since H&H took the reigns...

Trust me on this....When this franchise starts to win, and I believe it will happen soon,  the Cleveland Browns bandwagon will fill up so fast it'll make your head spin....These guys that bash the franchise non stop will be the first one's on, yelling "I TOLD YOU SO!!!"   lol!

That's just the way it is....

Take a deep breath Irish.  It takes all types to make these chat boards what they are.  You and I can believe that the Browns are finally on the right track to building a team that will compete.  There are many others who are (A) Not as passionate and die-hard as some of us Kool-Aid drinkers (B) Born after the Kosar era where losing every year is all they seem to know (C) Just blowing off some steam.

It just seems that every season for every team in every sport has become a "win now at all costs" for most fans.  It's an era of instant gratification and impatience.  For the most part, the posters who bash the Cleveland teams were probably born in the late 80's at the earliest.  They don't know the winning seasons and decades of losing that most of us have experienced.  I think the Indians of the mid-90's may have spoiled a few as well.  But you can't belittle them for what they've seen from the Browns over the last 13 years.  They were set up to fail and there has been complete ineptitude running the franchise until Holmgren and Heckert were hired.

Holmgren and Heckert seem to have a plan.  They just don't like to share it with the fans.  They simply preach patience on the part of the fan when all we've known for 12-13 years is complete and utter failure by the organization on and off the field for the most part.  I think they have a plan in place that will have us being competitive either this season or next.  It's just hard to be patient when you keep Mangini for an extra year instead of canning him and starting up the H&H plan a year earlier.  The choice of new head coach was something of a head scratcher as well.  The team is getting better and going through some growing pains.  Another 3 or 4 rookie starters from this draft will make it seem ugly at times as these draftees learn on the job
It's just hard to justify spending the money and the time on this team when they haven't put up much of a fight over the last few seasons.  I consider myself a die-hard fan, but fairly even-keeled when it comes to my expectations.  Heck, two season ago I'd turn the game off by halftime because I just couldn't take any more.  Most aren't as die-hard as some of us (i used to go to Tribe games all the time at old Municipal when there were less than 6000 fans in attendance.).  But let these complainers do what they do.  You just can't let it get to you.  When the Browns start winning, they'll be back.  And I won't begrudge them over having been beaten down.  I guess the best way to say it is:

It's hard to be a Cleveland fan.  Some are unwavering and ever-hopeful die-hards and the rest aren't.

By the way, keep doing what you do.  I enjoy reading your posts.
And the Kool-Aid is on me  (_)>   Cool

I see so many Red Sox and Steelers fans everyday, and I live in AZ, but 90% of them are just hoping on a trend, have no real connection to the team, they'll flop around on teams more times than a fish out of water.

if it was easy being a Browns fan, it wouldnt be worth it

(C) Just blowing off some steam.
I've fallen into this category after every Browns loss since Red Righht 88!  lol!

I'll always defend the Cleveland Browns.....Though it has become difficult these days.....We gotta get the wins!  Nothing else matters.  Nothing.   That's why my harshest criticisms of this team always pertain to a certain position....Don't worry.  I'm not getting into it.

Okay, well I'll just say this.Tongue out...Since I was a child, I've always believed that the QB is everything in the NFL......At a very impressionable age for me, it was  Roger Staubach,  Kenny Stabler,  Dan Fouts, Bert Jones, Brian Sipe,  Terry Bradshaw, Fran Tarkenton all dominating the league....I mean I'm talkin "gunslingers"!  2:00 minute  miracle workers....It was easy for a kid to think that, ya know...Then came Montana (best ever IMO) and  Marino  to furthur solidify my belief.....That's one thing that not only hasn't changed over the years, but today, with the rules so slanted for the offense, it's even more important to have that big time QB.......

I will have to admit I am a little pessimistic, cynical and upset but then again I am not dead yet, and while there is breath there is hope.
I have never turned off a game, its just not in the blood, never left a game before it was over (ok I left the Dwayne Rudd helmet throw game because I had to catch a plane), besides, staying to the end at the stadium is a great way to beat the traffic!

Sometimes, I come here to vent.  Everybody knows that....But I doubt anybody spends more time than I do every year trying to defend this operation to the masses....Yes, I bellyache and complain from time to time...I want the organization to hear it!  I want them to know that the losing is unacceptable to me.....But i totally understand where Irish is coming from, in regards to those who just bash, and needle, and poke at the Cleveland Browns organization every chance they get....These aren't real Browns fans.   They are just antagonists looking to incite a reaction from a real Browns fan...

I think everything I've ever felt about the Browns has been expressed by one or more of the posters at one time or another, I don't take offense when one of my bretheren puches the "postal" button, cause at one time or another I have felt the same. For me at least it is a temporary insanity defense, where I swear I will never again watch or be sucked into believing, or hope again. Maybe the truth is that the insanity is in knowing-I will and doing so with my heart again and again. Unfortunately that isn't temporary, but more likely a permanent condition: Brownfanitis, and there seems no cure, so I will rant, piss and moan, but I will be back in orange and brown, as surely as fall will follow summer.
I tend not to share my cursing on the posts, but I sympathsize with those who do, and tell myslef they are just suffering from the disease, and experiencing a particulary bad attack, but will not be able to resist an internal "cheer" when they see a Browns win or highlight that isn't for John Elway.

This year I truly don't have much of a feeling for the team, so I have been mostly voyeuristically reading to get a sense of where the team is, what they are planning, etc..., so silently I thank all of you for your posts, that feed my Browns fanitis fever, and feel the slow build to that "it could be this year" feeling again.

Thanks all, and Woof Woof

I cant take anyore draft talk for the ah oles at espn. I wanna punch mcshay in the face. tryin to tell us we need to take tannehill at 4. wtf**** shut up thatll set us back 3 years u ah ole. we need richardson and wright or move up from 22 and grab floyd or a stud LB and a WR at 37. or some comb of that.  Dont waste any picks on a QB this year unless its real late.  If we grab these guys its gonna be a great year regardless of our record. itll be exciting Shurmur doesnt bore the fukk out of us.  I cant stand him he plays not to lose and does lose almost every game.  Ill never like him even if he starts to win i will only tolerate him.  GO Browns I cant wait for the draft. Keep your head up ID its always been like this. Even when I was a kid I would get laughed at for being a browns fan and we were good back then.  Just down a few COON dawgs and party on.

ohh ya and TD i liked ur first 2 picks but the trade up for tanny pizzed me off hahah. We dont need a QB this year. Seriously what is that gonna help???? Do u want him to start?? or watch Colt and Learn from him? hahah If Colt sux so bad why would u want him to watch colt? and if he starts hes gonna get killed. Wasted pick. Im not sayin Colt is the answer but all of a sudden just because Todd mcshay says some guy went from a 3rd rounder to a top 4 hahah give me a break.  Ill take Adrian Peterson(richardson) over Brady Quinn(tannyhill) any day. But if Jake Delhome was still our starter i would take tannyhills backup at 4. Nick Perry? dont know much about him is he a beast??
