"Still too early to arrive at this conclusion.  By the ASB, we'll know whether or not there is any real vailidity to such a rash statement."

It's only a "rash statement" to a Laker fan. To everyone else, it's just an opinion. Opinions are wrong sometimes (your opinion that the Heat could not win last year as a prime example).

I might be wrong, who knows. The Lakers might not lose another game all year (cringe). I just don't think that what the Lakers have can beat what the other four teams have at the end of the regular season. That's a lot of miles to log on old legs, and with the hole that the Lakers have dug for themselves, the Lakers will not be in the position to rest their old legs as the season wears down. My guess is that the Top 4 teams WILL have that luxury, allowing them to huit the playoffs at maximuum health.

The Lakers are OK, but not near what I would call an elite team. Too many weaknesses.

I agree ..growing pains all teams go through .... weaknesses and struggles just like the Heat had during their initial 8-9 record on that big 2.5 2010 season.

i'll say it again, too many fools make too many bones about "age" in the NBA. like at 38 someone needs to be in a rest home. the Mavs won a title with an "old" team just 2 seasons ago...with Jason Kidd gaurding the great LeBrick James, no less...

Lakers haven't looked great but we are now two games seeing this team at full strength. Too early to judge how good they can be with plenty of games to develop the necessary chemistry.

But it's not too early to realize that ALL the teams in the Top 4 of the western conference already have developed that chemistry. Look at OKC and realize that their chemistry will only improve as they adjust to playing with Kevin Martin instead of James Harden. The Clippers are rolling and haven't even gotten Billups back into the rotation. They will only improve with his addition. san Antonio has years of experience together as a core and will only improve as their supplemental young players get reps. EVERYONE'S chemistry is improving, not just the Lakers.

None of the other wins were unexpected.
So YOU had us penciled in to win against GS and NY? 2 good quality wins, we can leave it at that. Tonight is going to be a tough one and I won't be suprised either way because the Nuggets are great at home.

I just don't think that what the Lakers have can beat what the other four teams have at the end of the regular season.

And yet a strong case could be made as to why those 4 teams couldn't beat the Lakers if the Lakers are at full strength at the end of the season.

The games are about matchups. There are no teams without weaknesses that can be exploited by another team. The Lakers are vulnerable against athletic teams that want to fly up and down the court like the Thunder and Heat. However, the Thunder and Heat are vulnerable against teams that want to get the ball inside and play at a slower pace like the Lakers.

As with any series, the outcome will be decided by which team does a better job of forcing the action to their liking.

Didn't say other teams aren't developing good chemistry. If the Lakers are healthy and playing good ball come playoff time, they will be a very tough opponent regardless their playoff seeding. You are judging them as an easy out based on their play up until now which is fair. I just think they have plenty of time to get things together by playoff time.

IMO, the difference is the Heats Big 3 are/were in their prime and they have the ability to play lockdown defense.

The Lakers have not shown that me that they can play at near a championship defensive level yet.

No defense vs elite teams, which there are plenty in the West = early exit

"So YOU had us penciled in to win against GS and NY?"

My Laker pick yesterday is documeted on this thread.

As far as the GS game, I wouldn't say I had it penciled it, but the Lakers, despite how bad they had looked were 2 point favorites in that game, and I KNOW the guys in Vegas are way smarter then me when it comes to those types of things.

I was more suprised of how they won then that they did win.

"I won't be suprised either way because the Nuggets are great at home."

Alot of teams are great at home. That is why it is called HC advantage.

Jefe feels though, that the Lakers don't need HC to win consecutive series  against, for possible example the Clippers(3-6) , Spurs(6-2) and Ok City(6-1) followed by the Heat(6-1).

He then told us that they "control their own destiny", but failed to respond when I asked him which playoff team until they lose thier 4th game does not control there own destiny.

Maybe he figured out how dumb his comment was?

To be honest, so was I. When they were down 14 in the 4th quarter, I almost changed the channel because they had shown no ability to overcome such a deficit.

Taking Kobe out for half of the 4th quarter was the best move Dantoni made as Lakers coach. Kobe wasn't playing team basketball in the first 3 quarters
