Agreed. He's really still pissed at Felder. That fight from their final show in 1980 was epic, but it was 33 years ago. Felder apologized on camera. He admitted he was wrong and immature about the whole thing. What bugs me about the financial arrangement is that both Henlry and Frey already make a ton more money than everyone else because of their publishing rights. They write 90% of the songs. They get the bulk of the songwriting royalties. I can't blame Don Felder for wanting the tour money to be split evenly. Joe Walsh looks to be like the most non-confrontation person on the planet. I don't think he would complain about anything. He's so happy to be sober and playing music, I don't think the money matters to him. Same for Timothy B. Schmidt. I totally get why Felder was upset and the money and being fired. In fact, I don't think Frey's comments were directed to Joe Walsh at all, and I'm sure that Frey in his arrogance considers Walsh as a hired sideman to the band. And jonny is right on in his comments about Walsh's probable ambivilance to the whole matter...he has a solid solo career before and after his Eagles work, plus he's brother in law to some guy named Ringo, so all this is beneath him, don't you think? The people Frey really slights with these comments and attitude, bedsides the obvious digs at Don Felder, are Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon. Both these guys were integral members of the original band, both contributed songs, (Meisner some very significant songs), while Leadon was easily the most instrumentally accomplished player in the group. Frey is an ass.

I was really disappointed to hear how insecure Meisner was about Take It To The Limit, and how much pressue he was put under to perform it every night. It's such a hard song to sing. If he wasn't on the top of his game, it could end up being embarrassing for him. I know how much the fans wanted to hear it, but I think I rather not hear it than hear one of my favorite songs done poorly becuase the vocals aren't up to snuff. I've seen The Who a couple of times when Roger just couldn't do "Love Reign O'er Me. It was sad and I felt bad for him. Frey is an ass.As talented as Wlash is-and I think we all agree he's amazing-isn't that really what he was in the Eagles, Koy? A hired sideman? And I don't consider that a slight, that's just his role within the band. And I agree, all fo this stuff is beneath him-he;s a high road kinda guy, God bless him.
Agreed. Frey is an assThe whole "Take It To The Limit" thing was really harsh, imo. Frey was really hard on Meisner. It's not like they had no other songs to play. I thought that was weak.I was really disappointed to hear how insecure Meisner was about Take It To The Limit, and how much pressue he was put under to perform it every night. I guess when I heard Leadon take responsibility for pouring the beer on Frey and heard Felder take responsibility, I just expected Frey would also take some responsibility.
2 songs on the first album (Take The Devil & Tryin') were written by Meisner, and another song (Earlybird) was co-written by Meisner/Leadon. On Desperado, Leadon was the only Eagles member to have a solo writing credit, and he wrote 2 of the songs (Twenty-One & Bitter Creek). Both Meisner and Leadon had other solo writing credits on following albums, Leadon left before Hotel California, Meisner left after that record. But if you look at the writing credits of the first 4 Eagles records, Bernie Leadon was more involved than Glen Frey was, and I can guarantee you that Leadon was easily the most entertaining of the group on stage. Bernie would play pedal-steel, banjo and mandolin or dobro sometimes on the same song live, as well as all the lead-guitar parts worth mentioning. Leadon wrote "My Man" for his friend Gram Parsons, and it was included on the "on The Border" album. Meisner was included in the Poco original reunion (he was a founding member of that group as well), and has a few decent solo records after he left the Eagles.WOW. I honestly had no idea the history-didn't know Meisner was a foun ding member of Poco either. did he leave to be in the Eagles? And was he replaced by Timothy B. Schmidt? Crazy how those guys' careers have run parallel. thanks for that brief history-and I agree 100%, the current Eagles should be treating the former Eagles with more respect.
