Yeah Marty I'm certanly not desperate to make a deal for a SS since the overwhelming majority of them are only mediocre performers in the grand scheme of things (that is why I was willing to part with Starlin Castro despite his consistency), but like I did with Jose Bautista if I see a player that would be someone I would be happy rolling out there every single week, it only makes sense to see if he is available for a reasonable price.  Given that I have unexpected depth at the OF position, I might even consider a relatively unreasonable offer for the right player.

That being said, I'm not going to try and acquire any players from an owner who obviously isn't actively managing his team in a competitive manner...that would definitely disrupt the competitive balance of the league.

Good Hump Day Morning GB10, got butterflies in my stomach for the first time in ages...not fun

I just dropped off my 9 yr old Golden Retriever for his first surgery since being snipped when he was a puppy and needless to say I'm a bit nervous.  He had a couple lumps that the groomer noticed and when I took him in to be examined, the vet found a third that had him more concerned than the first two.  After asperating all three to see what was inside each, his concern was validated and he strongly encouraged me to have it removed as soon as possible.  If all goes well, I should get him back this afternoon and he will likely need a couple of weeks to rehabilitate.

I got a strong performance from Ryan Vogelsong last night (7 innings of shutout ball in a Win) and combined with a 3-run HR from Jay Bruce and a one-out save from Rafael Soriano, I lead Rick by 17.5 points and still have a 1 SP advantage the rest of the week.  My toughest decision this week is going to be deciding which OF I'm going to consider dropping to add a SS for next weeks matchup vs Scott.  If you have a desire to add a Top 15 OF and Top 20 SP (maybe even include Evan Longoria) in one deal, this is the week to contact me because I'm going to have to make a move one way or the other and obviously I am motivated to try and get something rather than nothing.  Now that isn't to impy that I'm just going to give these guys away, but for those owners lacking consistency and looking to improve multiple positions, assuming you are willing to part with a player that would no doubt be a starter on my team, then my guess is we can make a deal.

Let's take the label off of Prince Fielder. Comerica Park is killing his stats compared to what he was doing last year.

Let's look at where Rizzo plays.We could hit balls out of Wrigley. I'm not saying he'll be an all star, but he will be the 1st baseman mid season pickup that Lawrie was for 3rd base last year. Can he do it year after year? I'll worry about that for keeper leagues only.

You traded Prince Fielder and Wei-Yin Chen for Chris Sale and Shin-Soo Choo so I would say that you anticipated being able to replicate Prince's stats with Anthony Rizzo...all I'm saying is that regardless of where they play the rest of the season, I highly doubt that happens.

Now this isn't to say that the trade you made with Rick was bad because Sale and Choo combined might very well be more valuable than Fielder, but given the depth I have at both OF and SP I think you could have gotten a better deal for him...unfortunately now we'll never know.

Simply giving credit where credit is due, Prince Fielder is currently the #5 1B in YTD points scored and in the last 28 days (reasonable sample size) he is the #7 1B.  If we average these two slots together, I think most would agree that at the very least he is the #6 1B in the league.

Now do you honestly think that Anthony Rizzo is going to be a Top 10 1B the rest of the season (I'm guessing you do) let alone a Top 6 1B (that would be where you lose me)...not saying it's impossible, but I wouldn't bet my playoff hopes on it.

Not quite. I have Trumbo so I targeted Sale. That will def work out. Being able to start Rizzo on the speculation that he'll crush is gravy.

I see the method to your madness, but that means if Rizzo disappoints you need to move Mark Trumbo from OF to 1B to offset the loss of Prince Fielder.  Based on your current roster that would only leave you with Shin-Soo Choo, Colby Rasmus, and Alex Rios left to man your three OF slots...looks to me like someone needs some additional depth there..lol

Pittsburgh Sports' fans should feel incredible shame that it will be up to Tony Larussa to pick Andrew McCutchen for the All-Star team. Most of the guilty party are too worried about who who the third string center will be or what time Big Ben takes a dump.

Good Thursday Morning GB10, the high Heat and humidity are finally rolling in to town...UGHHHHHHH!!!

Well the surgery to remove a tumor from the outside of my dog's leg seems to have gone about as well as one could hope...now I just got to keep in relaxed as much as possible so it can heal properly.  I should know in a few days how aggressive the cancer likely is and whether or not the surgeon was able to remove it all.  Now that I know the potential cost of radiation and/or chemotherapy, all I can say is I really really really hope so.

Rick got to solid pitching performances from Richard and Lester combined with a Save from Kimbrel and decent days at the plate from Rollins and Beltre to take a 16.5 point lead.  The good news for me is that thanks to Robinson Cano and Jose Bautista putting up close to 10 points a piece and decent scoring from everyone not named Brian McCann and Jay Bruce, I am easily within striking distance and now have a 5-2 SP advantage the rest of the way.

I don't suspect that anyone really is looking to make a trade right now since most of the league is within striking distance of a Wild Card slot (this weeks matchups might lead to the pack condensing even more) so it looks like I will have to decide which OF is going to be on the chopping block.  There is no need to rush this decison so I will simply wait until sometime Sunday evening to see if either Josh Willingham or Nick Swisher distinguish themself from each other.
