The New 1970s Lyrics Game

July 14, 2012 4:40 pm

We must have loads more bases
To protect us from our foes
Who needs these foolish friendships
We're going it alone

How come you're so wrong
My sweet neo con
Where's the money gone
In the Pentagon

Once again we all will be so broken
Now can I finally sleep again?

Waiting For A Dream - Rufus Wainwright

Cover or original? Never heard of this guy Purple.

Julie and little John Tyler lived in the house next door
We would be the great triangle and to this we swore
Julie was my sweetheart, little John was my cohort
And all the wild horses in the world couldn't keep us apart

Gotta link that Hollies video. No smoke machine but instead abuse of roman candles putting band members life in peril. Kids in stands seemed to enjoy it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2b4Z-xs-SI&feature=related

Pete Wingfield again with them. Further research shows he played with The Hollies from about '75 to '81.

NEXT LYRICS: I suspect this one may have been used before but I'm too lazy to look back over the multiple pages of this theme and see.

Like yours, mi'lady, like yours
Late at night when she thought
That no one was watching at all
On the wall

Cold hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colors from our sight
Red is grey and yellow white
But we decide which is right
And which is an illusion

Wild Billy's Circus Story - Bruce Springsteen. I guess you read all about the Boss and Sir Paul getting cut off in the middle of Twist and Shout last night in London?

Can't resist one from '94

Since I'm having trouble coming up with soe lyrics to fit the theme, I'm gonna go the lazy-man's route and change the theme.

The new theme is FAMILY MEMBERS.

I'll start with an easy one(which is actually from the 80s):

Rosanna's Daddy had a car she loved to drive.

NEXT LYRICS: I don't much agree with this artist's political views these days but I have been a big fan of his music from the late 70s to the mid 80s ever since I saw him in concert in a small converted movie theater shortly after the start of the 80s.

Country music singers
have been a real close family,
but lately some of my kinfolks
have disowned a few others and me.
I guess its because
I kind of changed my direction
