revenues increased...FACT
sux, let's talk about your FACT. When we talk about increases, we have to include inflation. In real dollars, Reagan's tax revenues increased 19%. the 8 years before revenue increased by 24%, Clinton years - revenue increased by 41%. Nowhere do I find tripling of revenue during Reagan's years. You use flawed propaganda from CATO and Heritage without researching what the real numbers mean. Yes, I use Paul Krugman as my source because he is a Nobel Laureate and not financed by the Koch brothers. Somehow I prefer a true economist over talking heads for the Koch brothers.

nice...I didn't ridicule you or criticize you for giving ideas.
I bring up a few ideas and I get ridiculed for what? For thinking that these people have alternatives to the lives they lead?
I say these opportunities aren't going to seek them out but, rather they have to take steps to seek out opportunites...
as for you...I see that you didn't offer anything up...
But, you are fine criticizing me for doing so...
Why don't you lay out a plan so I or others can scrutinize?
Spinelessness is not offering a thing but, be critical of others...
A poll by the Republican Winston Group gave them additional hope; it found that 52 percent of those polled preferred the GOP plan to replace the sequester with spending cuts they deemed responsible to 40 percent who felt that the cuts should be replaced with higher taxes.
LOL, I would hope that a REPUBLICAN poll makes republicans look good. Did you read that question? If my choice was ONLY between "spending cuts" I "deemed responsible," or "higher taxes," I'd pick the cuts too.
You know why they're using skewed polls like this? Because the unbiased ones aren't favorable to the GOP right now...
At a certain point, Obama’s class warfare arguments will become stale, and wither on the vine. The GOP is betting on that time being now.
How did that work out for them in, say, November 2012?
I'm not a fan of the democrats right now, and Obama isn't doing himself any favors by failing to embrace some real cuts (IMO), but this article is downright dumb.
It isn't based in reality. They want this to be true, maybe even need this to be true, but it simply isn't. Here is the reality:
1) The GOP's stance on no-revenue increases, while just as dumb as a no-cuts stance, doesn't mash up with what people want. If they looked at non-republican-group polls, they'd see that the overwhelming majority supports a plan of both cuts and revenue increases.
2) This saying the same thing over and over, and hoping people will start turning on Obama, isn't going to all of a sudden start working. Obama's approval ratings show this better than anything - it is the highest it's been since the honeymoon wore off. Check for yourself:
olls/other/president_obama_job_appr
oval-1044.html]
3) Most every poll on the matter shows a higher percentage of the American people holding the GOP responsible for sequester than Obama or the democrats.
Telling yourself over and over that something is true doesn't make it so. The sad part is, the GOP has set this up to let the Democrats portrary themselves the party of reason, when neither of them are, not really. It's as if the GOP as a whole lives in a skewed world of it's own, within the already skewed world of DC.

It's all about money.
That's what it seems to come down to in the most recent flare-up of the [immigration debate.] Policy makers and pundits who want tougher policies against illegal immigrants argue that they cost American taxpayers billions of dollars. Those on the other side of the debate counter that illegal immigrants create demand and jobs that promote economic growth.
So which one is it?
The [Federation for American Immigration Reform] (FAIR), a conservative advocacy group that favors tighter immigration laws, argues that the answer is clear: illegal aliens cost U.S. taxpayers more than $100 billion each year.
Jack Martin, director of special projects for FAIR, says the group is still working on its estimate, but believes undocumented workers leave taxpayers with a fat bill, considering that the government spends money on the workers, and they almost never pay income taxes.
"The study of the fiscal effects of illegal immigration clearly demonstrates that it is a burden on the American taxpayer," says Martin. More forceful implementation of immigration laws could save each U.S. household "in the neighborhood of a couple of thousand dollars a year."
Cost estimates usually only measure the fiscal cost, which weighs government spending (such as on public schools, medical care, incarceration and unemployment benefits) against government income (from income, property and sales taxes.) All those interviewed for this story said they can only make rough estimates, since it's almost impossible to gather accurate data about illegal residents.
Martin argues that more than half of the country's illegal immigrants work in the "underground economy," meaning that they are paid cash under the table, without paying any kind of taxes
In the course of a few posts you flipped-flopped more than Mitt Romney lol.
In the course of a few posts you flipped-flopped more than Mitt Romney lol.
There's a difference? They part their hair on the opposite side?
Actually, I initially said and suggested they look at the opportunites in North Dakota....that suggestion doesn't bring government into the equation...and I got laughed at...You were "laughed at" because you live in this simplistically naive world where you think anyone can just up and move to where a job might be on a whim as if it's that easy.
I clearly said that handouts are not the answer...that is throwing money at the situation...You didn't say a single word about a handout until after I called you out for the hypocrisy of you suggesting the military (i.e. government) as a solution.
I suggested the military because it is NOT a handout...the benefit comes after the service to the country...
how is that flip flopping? That isn't flip-flopping, but I can see you're having trouble understanding basic english today. Your flip-flopping was at first giving the idea, then denying you were really giving it as an idea but just a suggestion and then getting mad when you thought you were getting ridiculed for the idea you said you weren't even giving.
and yet you still haven't posted some ideas of your ownI don't have since I never took part in that particular aspect of the conversation to begin with.
