Megatron in about 1/10 of a second. He'll be 30FF points better than the #2 WR in football and will score like a top-5 back. None of the rest will get that separation at their positions.

Well done for Zwic in exchange for trading down one spot. He gets Bradshaw and two future #1 picks in exchange for one slot.
Me, going back to last year I effectively traded: Tony Romo Kenny Britt My first -rounder For Drew Brees Greg Jennings Jermichael Finley My team is pretty old, but should have 1-2 years left before I need to blow it up. |

Thanks MAX and Micro. Max, I was seriously thinking Calvin too, the scoring makes it slightly more running back orientated(you get a half a point per carry, but also a PPR.) And Passing... 1/2 point per completion. I think youre right. Micro, Staff is a beast. As much as I love the guy in 14 years of doing this(my first team had Corey Dillon and Randy Moss on it) I've only taken a QB in the first round once(Tom Brady post 50 TD season) and it bombed. I've always had good success waiting until at least the 4th round. Last year I went in with the strategy of drafting Stafford in the 5th round. It worked in 1 draft...he fell to the 5th...I ended up getting Matt in 5 out of my 6 money leagues in the 5th round. Brady fell to the 4th in 1. 3 championships...2 Staffs and a Brady. The dropoff at QB is the least at any position. I think I can still draft Staff probably with my second pick after keeping Mega and a runningback..maybe. Thanks for the input fellas. BTW anyroom in a league and I want in!! |

Ok we got 2 guys that want in, anyone agree with expansion? We could lower the number of keeprs to 8.
Also is anyone interested in adding defensive players. Pts for sacks, tackles, fumble recoveries, and picks? I think adding defensive would add more talent to the league, and make it tougher to choose your keepers. If we added defensive players and expanded we could bump up the number of keepers to 10. If we didn't expand we will just keep it at 12. |

Ok we got 2 guys that want in, anyone agree with expansionI think anything more than a 12-team Fantasy Football league is too tough. It's not like baseball where there are so many more players. I'm actually against the expansion. Write that down. However, I would be willing to create another cbs board keeper league. If anyone would want to do this, I'd be more than happy to manage it/compete. I know everyone is probably in a ton already, but seriously, how hard is it to set lineups and check on FA's? Takes like 10 minutes for football season. Lemme know. |

Might just want to check if there were some teams whose managers wanted to surrender them. Otherwise 14-team league OK with me.
You'd want to give any 'expansion franchises' a chance to be good in the first year or two. I'd propose this: Each team may 'protect from expansion' 5 players and set 11 keepers (6 of which are 'unprotected'). Then, all the trades we made take place (and if you got a guy you really like you can make him one of your 5 untouchables and have more than 6 guys exposed. I'd be in this camp. Two expansion teams then hold an 'expansion draft' where they take turns selecting 'unprotected' players, but no one team may lose more than one player this way. The two expansion teams, with 6 players each drafted this way, may draft 4 more players each from those on the free agent market, but no rookies are eligible for the 'expansion draft'. The 14 teams then have 10 players each (or more if kept player-for-pick trades took place). The expansion teams then get picks 3 and 4 in the draft as we have a 6-round 'rookie and dregs' draft to fill rosters. Just a suggestion. I'd try asking for owners to check in by, say, the end of June to confirm they want to stay in the league. If a couple drop out we might not have a problem at all. Adding IDP players I'd want to think about. Would we get rid of team D/ST in that case? It'd be good for the 'expansion' guys who'd get first crack at IDP players. |

I'd be up for defense players. Add a new dynamic. Ok with 14 also. Don't know about protecting only 5 though.

KEEPER LEAGUE TRADES, SMACK, SUGGESTIONSMay 15, 2012 8:56 pm
The team that was handled by GNP (Upper Canada Carnage) is open. GNP didnt participate last year, I usually set his lineup so he didnt forfeit every week. That will allow one guy in.
Teams have worked hard to get their rosters to where they are now. I would vote strongly against expansion for this year for two reasons. First, we do have one opening and fillng the other to become a 13 team league is silly. Second, teams have traded away picks, players, and made moves to establish their rosters. Telling them after those actions have been taken would simply not be right. If we are going to expand then it should be next year and the rules established now so teams can prepare for that accordingly. I am not opposed to the individual defensive players but I do believe that should be a totally seperate draft. Teams have been trading away picks based on the scoring system from last year. If all of the sudden we completely alter that format then the picks teams have already traded might have been worth alot more than what those teams valued them at before trading them away. There is a very easy fix to the situation though. Simply make rosters 14 deep and once each team has that many players then a new draft of only defensive players will take place. Teams would not be allowed to draft any defensive players until that seperate draft. You can use the same order as the other part of the draft or redraw the order if you prefer. |

I agree with Meow we should have a seperate draft for defensive players. Kepp the number of keepers at 12, that should make it a little harder to decide on your keepers and put more good players in the draft.

KEEPER LEAGUE TRADES, SMACK, SUGGESTIONSMay 16, 2012 9:04 am
Normally I'd be all for the expansion, but like Micro and Meow said we've all worked too hard on our rosters to be sacrificing (sp) the players we've traded for.
It would especially burn someone like me since I've traded away all my picks for players that I like- I'd lose those guys to the expansion draft and have no way to replace them. I'd participate in a second league though, especially if we used the same rules and set-up. If you want help seting that up and managing it Micro just let me know. I'm realy, really reaaaaaly in favor of adding the defensive players to our league. That would be sweet, plus like Zwic said, our drafts would be much deeper in the talent department. I like the idea of using a seperate draft for them just for this year though- that way we can keep our current plans the same for now, then have a combined draft next season. We'd expand the roster size to handle the extra guys though, right? |

KEEPER LEAGUE TRADES, SMACK, SUGGESTIONSMay 16, 2012 11:31 am
As an outside party to the league i think def players would add alot to the league. Another outside view here. I play in one dynasty league and two keeper leagues. I commish three leagues - my office re-draft league, that dynasty league, and one of those keeper leagues. I used to be against IDP (Individual Defensive Players), for a while actually. Let me tell you this, though: you haven't played fantasy football until you play IDP. It adds an entirely new element to fantasy football, and to watching an NFL game. It also allows each owner to have a ton of freedom when building his team. If you do it, don't go halfazz though. None of this starting 1 DL, 1 LB, 1 DB. Then everyone will have studs and it will be pointless. Go with at least 2 starters at each of those positions, plus at least 1 D-Flex. (My dynasty league starts 2 DL, 3 LB, 3 DB, & 3-D-Flex - 22 total starters). Also make sure you have a good scoring system. We tweaked ours a few times to get it just right and have a good balance between not only each IDP position, but with the offensive guys too. I can throw out some scoring suggestions if y'all decide to go that way. I would also suggest adding return yards stats to the league too, especially if you're worried about the talent pool drying up. It turns some otherwise useless 4th string WRs into viable starting options, and it boosts a lot of CBs points too. Lastly, if you do make any changes, I agree with the folks who think it would be unfair to switch during this offseason. Any planned changes should go into effect when at the end of this season. |
