Well it was New Year's Eve I was fourteen at the time.
I was celebrating 4:00am with them hoodlum  friends of mine.
I heard a boy named Elvis Presely singing "That's Alright, Mama" on the radio.
And it turned me on . . .

Hooked On Music - Mac Davis, All right, i think its time for theme change. Let's try "Never."

Your eyes are moist, you scream and shout
As though you were a man possessed
From deep inside comes rushing forth
All the anguish you suppressed
Upp on your wall hangs your degree
Your parents craved so much for you
And though you're trained to make your mark
You still don't quite know what to do

sorry to interrupt guys but I had a muscial question.  I'm confused by the song "Saturday Night Special"  Skynyrd was obviously a southern band with southern beliefs.  It seems inconsistent that they would have a song with an anti gun message.   I could be mistaken but i believe in Alabama every white male is given a gun on their 5th birthday.   Can anyone explain this?  Was it the specific gun that was troubling to them or handguns in general.  AND if they were in fact anti-gun, did they also have a B track somewhere defending gay marraige that I missed.

Trav, it may seem contradictory, but in the South, it's possible to be anti-handgun and pro-long-gun.  Songwriter Ronnie Van Zant(and most of the other band members) are actually from my home state of Florida, not Alabama, and hunting is a way of life here.  Handguns are not used for hunting, and therefore not of any positive value in the eyes of many.
